Portfolio Show and Online Portfolio

Me at the end of VCAD's Portfolio Show

A both exhausting and exciting night it was at VCAD's Portfolio Show a couple nights ago. Everyone had their displays set up and were able to finally just talk about their work all night long. It was gratifying to be able to look through your own work and see projects that were actually completed. During school I felt that we only focused on what could be changed or improved upon. At this show, with all our best work placed together, I think we finally all realized just how much we have learned and how many skills we have acquired and developed since the beginning of the Interior Design course.

Now with the show done I am working on building up my online portfolio. For now you can see some samples of my work on the VCAD Student Portfolio site.

Quigley's Pub

Top Left: Booth Seating Perspective. Top Right: Bar Perspective. Bottom Left: Rendered Floor Plan. Bottom Right: Aerial Perspective of the central dining area.

Here are some images from the Quigley's Pub Assignment that I mentioned in my first post. All are hand rendered and all except for the floor plan are hand drawn.

Business Card

Above is what my business card has ended up looking like. I feel it is simple and to the point which is a good thing. The more clear the better. The bubbles that were originally on the top of my card forming a half circle design element have now been transformed into two linear lines of bubbles.

During the design of my business card the bubbles became quite controversial. They were said to be confusing reminding others of such things as pinwheels, ferris wheels or "some kind of telecommunications thing." Not really wanting to be associated with that telus commercial with the pig, circuses, or telecommunications companies I decided to use the bubbles in a more direct kind of way. I hope that now they work to urge people to turn over the card instead of sending them into a confused state involving clowns and phones.

Before and After a Christmas Gift

During the 2012 holiday season some of my classmates and I took on a volunteer project that involved the re-design and decoration of the Downtown Eastside Women's Centre. The project took much dedication, time and patience to complete but it was all very well worth it.

Logo and Business Card Development

Here is a view into what I went through before arriving at the current design for my logo as well as business card design. I am pretty happy with what I came up with today. Just a few tweaks and it should be good to go!

Thanks to all the wonderful people that helped me through my journey of perfectionism to satisfaction. A special thanks to my amazing boyfriend, Dana, who really helped get the ball rolling and helped keep it rolling.
